HOOPSDAILY.COM - VALUE BOARD

I found it interesting that the Warriors were one of only 8 teams in the entire NBA with 3 or more players ranked in their 'Top 50' according to Hoops Daily's 2009 Value Board Rankings

  1. Boston: Pierce (13), Rondo (17), Garnett (22), Allen (47) = 99 (4 players)
  2. Atlanta: Johnson (24), Smith (28), Horford (41), Williams (44) = 137 (4 players)
  3. Los Angeles: Bryant (5), Gasol (21), Bynum (30) = 56
  4. Portland: Roy (9), Aldridge (25), Oden (37) = 71
  5. San Antonio: Parker (11), Duncan (12), Ginobili (50) = 73
  6. Utah: Williams (10), Millsap (38), Boozer (42) = 90
  7. New Jersey: Harris (26), Lopez (31), Carter (43) = 100
  8. Golden State: Ellis (33), Randolph (35), Biedrins (39) = 107
I know these rankings are subjective, but this illustrates that the Warriors do have some young talent to build around. The trick now is to draft, sign, or trade for a top 20 talent while trying to keep our existing top 3 of Ellis, Randolph, and Biedrins. There are a few players that still have a shot, albeit a long shot, at rising close to the Top 50 in the next few years: Brandan Wright, Anthony Morrow, and Marco Belinelli. Right now, we have one of the deepest benches in the league. Also, if Nelson and Riley can find another gem in this years draft, we'll be in business before you know it. Playoffs for a team with 3 in the top 50 with others rising can't be far away, can it?

PG: Ellis / Crawford / Watson?
SG: Jackson / Morrow / Belinelli
SF: Azubuike / Maggette
PF: Randolph / Wright
C: Biedrins / Turiaf
